High Intensity Activated Crosswalk

Village Happenings: 02/17/22

What is that seemingly inactive traffic control device in the middle of the village on RT 17?

Well it is called a HAWK ( High Intensity Activated Crosswalk) and the signal is providing pedestrians with a safer means to cross RT 17, which as we all know is a state highway.

Basic Operations:

Flashing and Solid Yellow: Prepare to stop

Solid Red: STOP

Flashing Red: STOP first and proceed with caution if no person/s are present.
